B.Stark & Co

Mankato, MN

This new building houses all parts of this silk screening and embroidery business: retail sales floor, office and conference spaces, and a production area. Natural daylight spills through the skylights, punched through the roof throughout the building, illuminating the production area, saving electric lighting costs, and improving the overall work environment. A glass-paneled overhead door in the production area allows easy access to the large screening machines, and also floods the work space with light. Flooring throughout the building, even in the office and sales areas, is industrial but fitting with the overall design. Interior finishes are durable, simple and cost-efficient to maintain. Pre-cast panels frame the majority of the building, but the EFIS steel-framed, curving wall gives the space increased flexibility, and its the unique space requirements of the business all while making a bold a design statement.
