Centenary United Methodist Church

Mankato, MN

The congregation of Centenary United Methodist Church, located in the heart of downtown Mankato, was in need of additional space to accommodate its growth. They also needed to create a master plan for the whole building–a building that had seen several small additions and alterations to the building over the last 20 years. The congregation also wanted to be completely ADA compliant and simplify circulation through the building. In response to their many needs, the Paulsen design team created a new three-story stair core and elevator that connects all levels of the church, making the church completely ADA accessible. The renovation includes several educational classrooms and converted and renovated the existing lower level space into a new fellowship room and youth activity.  Skylights were added to the narthex to provide much-needed natural light. New lighting fixtures and interior finishes throughout the space brighten and update the formerly dark and dated interior spaces.
