327 Riverfront
Mankato, MN
The renovation of the historic building on 327 Riverfront replaced a deteriorating front and back storefront with a new limestone base, EIFS and aluminum windows. The project also restored much of the exterior brick and added a new awning. A new metal stairway in the alley replaced the old and dangerous existing stairway- to provide better access for upper level apartment tenants.
The interior was redesigned from an open retail store to a series of spaces consisting of offices, a conference room, kitchenette and a reception area at the back entrance. Modern interior colors, with new furniture and carpet were mixed with historic elements of exposed existing interior bricks, wooden beams, stamped metal ceiling panels and period lighting fixtures to make the space feel authentic yet renewed.
The project helps enhance the image of Riverfront Drive and Old Town and helps fulfill goals of the City Center Partnership and Downtown Renaissance Plan.
