Dulcimer Medical Center named to Minnesota Physician's Health Care Architecture Honor Roll

MANKATO, Minn. (June 24, 2010) — Dulcimer Medical Center has been named to Minnesota Physician’s (MP) 2010 Health Care Architecture Honor Roll. The 16,500 sf clinic, designed by Paulsen Architects, was featured in the Minneapolis-based publication’s June issue. Each year, MP solicits nominations and recognizes exceptionally designed facilities throughout the state.

Paulsen Architects, a full-service architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm based in Mankato, worked closely with physicians and staff of Dulcimer Medical Center to ensure that the needs of the patients, staff and community were met in this award-winning facility.

The center, which is located in Fairmont, Minnesota, is designed around the idea of harmony enhancing the patient’s experience. The name Dulcimer Medical Center was derived from the musical instrument that shares its name. Keeping harmony at the forefront of the design concept, Paulsen Architects brought materials such as stone and wood from the exterior to the interior to create a space that would be one with nature.

“Natural light from a wall of windows overlooks a nearby creek and valley as do patient rooms. This provides a soothing, healing environment that helps patients feel at home, comfortable and relaxed,” explains Bryan Paulsen, AIA, President of Paulsen Architects.

“We integrated Arts and Crafts architectural details to enhance the harmony between the exterior and interior complimented with soothing colors and organic patterns throughout the center.”

MP is Minnesota’s largest independent medical business publication with a monthly circulation of 14,000. The June issue has become its most popular issue with the annual showcase of the year’s best Minnesota health care facilities.
