Church of St. Andrew

Elysian, MN

With their existing one-room church cramped and in need of substantial repair, the parish of The Church of St. Andrew turned to Paulsen Architects to develop a comprehensive master plan for their growing congregation. Paulsen created expansion and renovation plans and helped incorporate a prioritized, phased approach compatible with their fundraising needs. At the request of the congregation, the design team set out to create the image of a rural, “small town” church. Another objective of the parish was to have a greater presence--both visually as well as in the community at large. The expansion plan includes a new 326-seat sanctuary, new administrative offices, a remodeled multi-purpose room, new ADA accessible toilet rooms, a conference room, and adequate storage. The next phase includes an educational classroom wing and alternative locations for additional parking.
