Private Residence 2

Good Thunder, MN

This new custom-designed home serves as a stunning retreat for its owners and guests. Located on a river bottom flat near a tributary to the Minnesota River just south of Mankato, designers thoughtfully incorporated every imaginable detail into this unique home.

Although this home features many extraordinary details -- a large kitchen for entertaining and cooking, a butler’s pantry, wet bar, a built-in wood burning oven to name a few -- the main feature of the home is nature itself. Multiple outdoor areas including gardens, ponds, European terraces, screened porches, and courtyards create many “habitats” for the owners all quietly tucked within the serenity of the world around them.

By design, the home doesn’t ever reveal itself completely inside or out at any one time. The main level accommodates all primary living needs, fulfilling of having an accessible home in which to retire. The second level, located above the garage/machine/garden shed serves as a private two bedroom living area, complete with a bathroom and living area for long-term guests. The home is filled with comfortable spaces, featuring the client’s heirlooms and antiques. The garage/machine/garden shed and kitchen area serve as anchors of the home, with common living areas falling in between.
