Paulsen Architects Office

Mankato, MN

When Paulsen Architects needed a new space to accommodate its growing staff, their designers embraced the opportunity to demonstrate the bold design they are known for. They gutted the second floor of a traditional office in downtown Mankato and removed the existing double loaded corridor to create an open office. Demolition continued down to the exposed steel structural columns and beams, and concrete floor panels. In addition to the exposed steel and pre-cast concrete deck structure, the office features exposed ducts, electric conduits and plumbing, moveable wall systems, carpet tile and wood flooring. Paulsen also made use of local materials such as Ochs bricks and limestone. Natural light and textured glass on all office and conference room walls makes for a light and open, but still private office environment. The overall design fosters a culture of collaboration, team work and trust, as well as provides a showcase of ideas for clients.
