First National Bank Minnesota
Mankato, MN
The renovation and redesign of First National Bank Mankato started out as an exterior renovation, but quickly grew to an entire facility makeover.
The exterior of the building, last renovated in the early 1990’s, was covered in a dated bronze metal. Updating the exterior with a more prairie style roof, neutral color palette and larger window openings, helped it fit in better with the original brick base of the building. The newly expanded windows not only provided better natural light for the bank employees and customers, but also created a greater personal connection to the public which can now see through the window into the bank’s activities and employees.
The interior of the space changed dramatically from a typical stand up bank teller area to smaller, more intimate, sit down personal banking stations. This new trend to a more personal banking experience is the first of its kind in the Mankato area. All tellers and personal bankers are able to perform each other’s tasks and provide greater service at one desk. The existing office cubicles, once set up in the middle lobby of the bank, are now gone- offering a large reception and waiting area centered on a fire place.
