Mankato Family YMCA

An addition and complete renovation and reorganization of the Mankato Family YMCA has allowed this community institution to more effectively achieve their mission, improved their image and helped boost membership over 30 percent.

The new addition to the existing YMCA facility includes a large, state-of-the art life/fitness center, child care facilities, classrooms, play areas, youth center, and the two-story Taylor Family Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center features a water slide, zero-depth warm-water entry pool, interactive water toys and four additional lanes for water exercise. A three-story addition to the north side of the facility quadrupled space for babysitting and pre-school programs, added a teen recreation room, and a premier aerobic studio. Large areas of glass onto a busy road show energy inside the facility to those passing by.

The newly-located entrance is now better situated to the existing parking lot, and a convenient drop off and pick up area was added. The lobby features a more secure member check-in area as well as comfortable space that encourages informal interaction among members and staff.

In addition to the facility expansion, the existing 50,000 square foot building also underwent a complete renovation. Construction of the new Family Aquatic Center features architectural pre-cast wall and ceiling system. The remainder of the new expansion is full masonry construction enhanced by honed, rock-face local limestone and architectural metals.
