Pioneer Bank
St. James, MN
The Pioneer Bank building was originally built in 1928 as the historic St. James Creamery. Over time, the classic brick deteriorated, the tile exterior was covered with a facade of white stucco and rock and the window and door openings were blocked. Today, after Paulsen Architects did a two two-phase design-build project that consisted of exterior renovation of the existing 4,500 square foot two-story facility, and a 2,520 square foot new addition, the building is back to its original design and home to Pioneer Bank. Windows have been reopened and brick details were uncovered, returning the prominent corner in downtown St. James to reflect the colors, style and heritage of its past. The newly renovated and expanded Pioneer Bank building allows Pioneer Bank employees to serve customers more efficiently and comfortably. The renovation of, and expansion to, the Pioneer Bank building received the 2002 Minnesota Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Award of Excellence.
